CT Woman Charged With DUI For Driving Wrong Direction On Highway, Causing Crash

A Connecticut woman was charged with alleged driving under the influence after causing a crash while driving in the wrong direction, according to State Police.

Fairfield County resident Heather Maton, age 55, of Bethel, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 4 around 12:30 a.m. in New Haven County in the town of Seymour.

According to Connecticut State Police, troopers responded to a crash involving a Jeep and a Lexus which was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of Route 8 on Sunday, Feb. 4 at about 12:30 a.m.

Maton reported no injuries, according to police. 

The driver of the Jeep reported possible injuries but declined medical assistance at the scene, state police said. She agreed to participate in field sobriety tests, which were not performed to standard.

She was arrested and charged with:

  • Operating under the influence
  • Traveling the wrong way on a divided highway
  • Reckless endangerment 

Maton was later released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Derby Superior Court, on Friday, Feb. 16.
